Darnall invites the community to bring awareness during Sexual Assault Awareness Prevention Month

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – The Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center began Sexual Assault Awareness Prevention Month with it’s “Do Your Part” blood drive, one of a few planned events that will allow the community to help bring awareness to preventing sexual assaults and harassment. “This year’s theme is Change Through Unity: Empower. Protect. Prevent.” Following the initial observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, advocates of sexual assault survivors sought to create a similar awareness event more specific to sexual violence. What started out as an awareness week in April, grew into a month-long consciousness-raising event.

From the clinic to the stage: A Tripler physician performs in local theater

When U.S. Army Capt. David Samsel, a physician, is not working at Warrior Ohana Medical Home in Kapolei, he can often be found acting on a local theater stage. This year, he played Eddie McCune in the Diamond Head Theatre’s production of “The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940,” which ran Feb. 2-24. The play is a fast-paced and deliriously funny farce that takes place in an isolated mansion in the middle of a snowstorm. The characters are cut off from the outside world with only a deranged murderer, the Stage Door Slasher, for company.
