Walter Reed team designs online fluoroscopy course for patient, staff safety

“The Defense Health Agency (DHA) requires mandatory training for all fluoroscopy operators, supervisors, practitioners, and prescribers who operate, prescribe, or supervise fluoroscopy, guided medical procedures,” said Crystal A. Green, Ph.D., a diagnostic medical physicist in the Department of Public Health-Radiation Safety Division at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). Green and her colleagues recently designed a course now on Joint Knowledge Online (JKO) focused on fluoroscopy.

Medical Readiness Command, East command team visits Fort Novosel

U.S. Army’s Medical Readiness Command, East senior leaders visited Fort Novosel on December 6, 2023. Brig. Gen. Lance Raney, MRC, East Commanding General, and Command Sgt. Maj. Rebecca Booker, MRC, East Senior Enlisted Advisor, met with leaders from United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence and Fort Novosel, Brown Dental Clinic, Fort Novosel Veterinary Treatment Facility, United States Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory, Department of Aviation Medicine, and Lyster Army Health Clinic.

Highlighting its nationally recognized achievements in patient safety and quality, Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital was named a Top Rural Hospital by The Leapfrog Group. The Leapfrog Top Hospital award is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive awards American hospitals can receive. The Top Hospital designation is bestowed by The Leapfrog Group, a national watchdog organization known as the toughest standard-setters for health care safety and quality. Top Hospitals were honored Dec. 5 at the 2023 Leapfrog Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner in Washington, D.C.

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – The Killeen Shoemaker High School choir graced the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center with beautiful holiday songs, and the hospital’s holiday fair brought resources and information to help staff and beneficiaries coop with the stress that the season brings Dec. 8. “We are trying to address those behaves that spike due to stressors during the holiday season,” said Lisa Lerma, sexual assault and response coordinator, CRDAMC.
