Al Whitney is a true American hero. For over half a century, he has been a constant blood donor to the Armed Services Blood Program and other donor locations throughout the United States. He has donated five gallons of whole blood. On May 12, Whitney donated his 1,030th unit of platelets at the Fort Bragg Blood Donor Center in North Carolina.

Research, Innovation Month spotlights studies conducted at Walter Reed

Food insecurity for military families is a concern. Abscess incision and drainage procedure training for medical students can be a challenge, with trainees often missing opportunities to perform or learn the procedure. These were just two of a number of issues researched and tackled by participants in Walter Reed’s Department of Research Programs’ (DRP) annual poster competition, which kicked of 2023 Research and Innovation Month activities on May 1 at the medical center.

Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center wraps up a week of celebration honoring past and current nurses during a fun-filled week April 5-11. With this year’s theme being, “Nurses make a difference Anytime, Anywhere, Always,” the staff kicked off the week with a fashion show of past and present military and civilian nursing uniforms, modeled by staff members. Other events included an escape room, basket drawings, fun run and walk, a taco and waffle bar, and a relaxation and yoga room.
