‘Train as you fight’- Surgical suit brings realistic training to military operations

With readiness of the medical force a top-priority, Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune often collaborates with entities across Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune to train for real-life medical emergencies. In October, 2nd Medical Battalion tapped NMCCL’s Staff Education and Training Team for use of the medical center’s Human Worn Partial Task Surgical Simulator, or “cut suit”.

I Am Navy Medicine – HM3 John Ong – Lead Hearing Conservation Tech at NHB

When an earful about an ear full is needed, Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class John Ong can provide any such helpful cautioning. As the lead hearing conservation technician and general duty corpsman for Naval Hospital Bremerton Otorhinolaryngology [better known as Ears, Nose and Throat] department, Ong handles everything from administering hearing tests to counseling patients on just what constitutes healthy hearing, which includes reminding patients at times to follow the old adage of not sticking anything in your ear smaller than your elbow, as well as adequately protect it from damaging, earsplitting noise (official Navy photo by Douglas H Stutz, NHB/NMRTC Bremerton public affairs officer).
