CRDAMC Veteran still serving after 35 years

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas - Charles Henderson, medical evaluation board officer, CRDAMC, and retired Sgt. 1st Class, was awarded a certificate for 35 years of government service in a ceremony at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center 1 Feb. Henderson retired from the Army after serving 22 years of service as a track vehicle mechanic, worked as a security specialist for the hospital for one year, and has served as a medical evaluations board officer for the past 15 years.

In a strategic move to consolidate military healthcare, the 59th Medical Wing has undergone a realignment under the Defense Health Agency. As part of this transformation, all medical treatment facilities have transitioned from their previous Air Force websites to a unified TRICARE website. The new TRICARE site marks a significant step forward, streamlining our efforts by maintaining a singular platform dedicated to providing comprehensive information for patients, military treatment facility details, and insight into our medical mission. This alignment underscores our commitment to the overarching mission of DHA.

Four teams from Defense Health Network Central will be celebrated for their exceptional efforts to improve the Military Health System during a ceremony, Feb. 15, 2024. Dr. Lester Martinez-Lopez, assistant secretary of defense for health affairs, and Defense Health Agency Director Lt. Gen. Telita Crosland will present the Ready Reliable Care High Reliability Organization Awards to the winning teams, which include DHN Central’s 673rd Medical Group, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson; 377th Medical Group, Kirtland Air Force Base; and Brooke Army Medical Center, Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston.

Walter Reed’s Wounded Warrior Aircraft Program: A Band of Brothers Takes Flight

The American Red Cross-sponsored Wounded Warrior Drone Program has been a popular therapeutic activity with the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center’s Occupational Medicine Department (OMD) since 2011. The Red Cross facilitators include William Kahl and retired U.S. Navy Capt. (Dr.) Jay Montgomery, both of whom are remote control pilots skilled in flying drones, planes and helicopters. The third facilitator is retired U.S. Coast Guard LCDR Len Greig, a helicopter rescue pilot and a certified flight instructor.
