Plan Now: TRICARE Select Enrollment Fees for Group A Retirees Coming January 2021

Did you hear the news about TRICARE Select enrollment fees? TRICARE Select Group A retirees must begin paying enrollment fees to maintain health coverage starting on Jan. 1, 2021. TRICARE Select is the name of the plan that replaced the former TRICARE Standard and TRICARE Extra programs in 2018.

Tripler’s Warrior Transition Battalion deactivates, re-designated as a Soldier Recovery Unit

By Kayla Overton October 5, 2020 Tripler Army Medical Center’s Warrior Transition Battalion was deactivated and re-designated a Soldier Recovery Unit during a ceremony here Oct. 1. The newly renamed SRU is one of 14 to stand up across the nation, marking a major milestone in the Army Recovery Care Program restructure. The re-designation of WTUs to SRUs across the Army will allow caregivers to more adequately concentrate medical and administrative resources on the Soldiers who need them. “The Soldier Recovery Unit continues to provide critical support to meet the needs of Soldiers who are wounded, ill or injured, and who require medical case management through the triad of care and other medical and non-medical providers,” said Dr. (Col.) Martin Doperak, Tripler’s commander. “Change brings opportunity; the restructuring of a WTB to a SRU signifies a paradigm shift to support our Soldiers.”

Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Scheduling A Screening At Madigan

According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, making breast cancer the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women worldwide. Yet breast cancer also has one of the highest survival rates, largely thanks to early detection services such as screening mammograms. Madigan Patients can call to schedule or stop by the Mammography section in Radiology for screening. A referral /order from PCM  is not needed.

Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Pearl Harbor (NMRTC-PH) stood up an Expeditionary Testing Team (ETT) in April to conduct mass operational COVID-19 testing. Created in a moment’s notice, their mission is to help ensure operational readiness of the fleet during the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID-19 Testing

The urgent care clinic at Womack Army Medical Center is now open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for testing and treating patients that have symptoms of COVID-19. The WAMC Urgent Care Clinic is a walk-in clinic only. Patients that walk in will receive a mask and undergo COVID-19 medical treatment. On weekends, patients with COVID-19 symptoms should go to the emergency roomThe hospital department that provides emergency services to patients who need immediate medical attention.. Please use the All American Expressway entrance to access the medical center.

On Sept. 1, the Defense Health Agency (DHA) launched 74 new websites for Air Force military hospital and clinics. ­This is an important step to modernize the Military Health System on the web. Each website moved to the TRICARE website to give patients a standard web experience.

Fort Drum Medical Activity Soldiers train as Sexual Assault Forensic Assistants

Staff Sgt. Dennis Manuel, Spc. Marissa Kirian, and Spc. Kelly Pham recently completed the SAMFE assist training under the guidance of Fort Drum’s Sexual Assault Medical Management Office program manager. Under the new Fort Drum pilot program, the volunteer Soldiers are now ready to provide on-call, rapid support to primary SAMFE providers in assisting with medical exams, collecting forensic evidence, and supporting victims during sexual assault forensic exams.
