LRMC welcomes DHA assistant director for transition talks

LANDSTUHL, Germany — Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC) recently welcomed Dr. Brian Lein, assistant director for Healthcare Administration at the Defense Health Agency (DHA), to discuss the transition for LRMC staff and operations from U.S. Army Medical Command to DHA, March 3.

Thirty military medical professionals from six NATO member countries attended the NATO Centre of Excellence for Military Medicine’s Medical Evaluation Course (MEDEVAL) at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC), from Feb. 22-25. The course certifies medical professionals to evaluate exercises across NATO medical capacities.

Graduate Allied Health Education holds first appreciation day for trainees, faculty

Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) Healthcare Simulation and Bioskills Training Center (HSBTC or SIM Center) held a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, including Computer Science (STEM/CS) event for Portsmouth School System (PSS) high school students, Feb. 24. Nineteen 10th to 12th grade students and two teachers from Portsmouth’s Manor, Churchland, and I.C. Norcom high schools visited the SIM Center to see demonstrations on the simulation medical training that is done at NMCP.

STEM EVENT FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS HELD AT NMCP

PORTSMOUTH, Virg. — NMCP has signed an Education Partnership Agreement with PSS for mentorship of high school students to medical simulation, and the command’s diversity committee was instrumental in coordinating the event.

Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) hosted an Advanced Surgical Skills for Exposure in Trauma (ASSET+) course, Feb. 1-2. ASSET+ is an upgraded modification of the original ASSET course, and it is a cadaver-based, anatomical review of surgical exposures in the neck, torso and extremities to allow for rapid control of bleeding in injured patients. “As NMCP becomes a trauma center, all of our surgeons will be expected to manage trauma although most are not specifically trained in trauma surgery,” said Cmdr. Timothy Donahue, NMCP’s Trauma Medical director. “Just as every Marine is a rifleman,” added Donahue, “every deployed Navy surgeon is a trauma surgeon.”

PORTSMOUTH, Virg. — PORTSMOUTH, Va. (Feb. 9, 2022) –Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) hosted an Advanced Surgical Skills for Exposure in Trauma (ASSET+) course, Feb. 1-2.

Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) recently earned the Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR®) Strong designation by the Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI). Army medics' exceed expectations' during inaugural exercise at Fort Lee

FORT LEE, Va. — FORT LEE, Va. – Medical personnel from Kenner Army Health Clinic "exceeded expectations" while taking part in a first-time field training exercise here March 8-10. The FTX included urban rifle marksmanship, trauma scenarios, and the treatment and evacuation of casualties.
