Kleber Soldiers participate in Finnish Army’s Winter Combat Course

ROVANIEMI, Finland – Subarctic temperatures didn’t stop a multinational training exercise from going forward during a Winter Combat Course near Rovaniemi, Finland, located just four miles south of the Arctic Circle, during the freezing month of January, the coldest month of the year in the region.

BAMC expands COVID-19 vaccination operations

Brooke Army Medical Center relocated its vaccine operations to a new location on Joint Base San Antonio-Fort San Houston in February to safely accommodate a greater number of daily vaccinations. The Fort Sam Houston COVID Vaccine Site is located in Building 4110, 2536 Garden Ave. The new location is by appointment only, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

There’s a new way to send first-time prescriptions to Kenner Army Health Clinic, giving beneficiaries the convenience of not having to walk into the facility to drop off those requests.

BAMC offers COVID-19 vaccine to beneficiaries 65 and older

Brooke Army Medical Center will begin administering the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to all TRICARE beneficiaries ages 65 and older next week by appointment only at its Fort Sam Houston vaccination site, with online booking open today. BAMC opened up appointments for beneficiaries ages 75 and older earlier this week, and with the increased capacity at its new main post facility, is now able to offer additional appointments to accommodate an expanded population.

Mobile medics leverage virtual health to aid military trainees with COVID

Service members with COVID-19 may be in quarantine, but they are far from being alone. A new virtual health program is leveraging technology to provide round-the-clock care for military trainees who tested positive or who are deemed at risk due to exposure or symptoms. “This has been a tremendous collaborative effort between Brooke Army Medical Center, the Virtual Medical Center and the Army Medical Center of Excellence to provide medical support to Soldiers, Airmen and Sailors,” said Army Maj. Daniel Yourk, deputy director of operations, Virtual Medical Center.
