Q&A: What To Know as New TRICARE Contracts Begin in 2025

FALLS CHURCH, Va. — New TRICARE managed care support contracts, known as T-5, will start on Jan. 1, 2025. The new contracts will improve health care delivery, quality, and access for beneficiaries living in the United States.

Army Col. (Dr.) Aniceto Navarro, director of behavioral health at Walter Reed, states, “Research tells us that the human psyche hasn’t changed much in the last 10,000 years. Our hearts and minds are built for a horse-and-buggy society, but…that’s not the world we live in.”

Mental Health Awareness Month: You are not alone; reach out for help

Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Md. — This year marks the 75th anniversary of Mental Health Awareness Month, observed during May and established in 1949 to increase awareness of the importance of mental health and wellness. “According to the World Health Organization (WHO), ‘Mental health is a state of mental well-being that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn well and work well, and contribute to their community.’ I agree with this definition,” states Army Col. (Dr.) Aniceto Navarro, director of Behavioral Health at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC).

New clinic expands physical therapy services for Marines, Sailors on Lejeune

CAMP LEJEUNE, North Carolina — A new clinic is increasing physical therapy options for Marines and Sailors on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. Rather than defer physical therapy (PT) care to the network, the Warfighter Readiness and Rehabilitation Center has recaptured PT consults for active-duty service members by bringing PT care in closer proximity to military personnel.

Cherry Point Clinic Celebrates 116th Navy Nurse Birthday

MCAS Cherry Point — Staff and Sailors serving aboard Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point celebrated the 116th birthday of the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps during a ceremony conducted Monday, May 13 in the clinic’s pavilion.

Navy Lieutenant Sarah Cruz will continue her career as a U.S. Navy Nurse by attending Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina, to earn a Master of Science in Public Health. Cruz served aboard Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point, ending her duty there as Department Head of the facility’s Patient Centered Medical Home.
