Walter Reed celebrates staff, namesake, and team during Organizational Day event

On Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) held its first Organizational Day (O-Day) since the COVID-19 pandemic, celebrating its team members, as well as the 13th anniversary of the coming together of Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) and National Naval Medical Center (NNMC) to form WRNMMC, and the 173rd anniversary of the birth of Maj. (Dr.) Walter Reed, born on Sept. 13, 1851.

September is recognized nationally as Suicide Prevention Month and Navy Chaplains at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina hosted an Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) workshop to train attendees to recognize early warning signs of self-harm/suicidal thoughts and how to intervene.

NMCP HOSTS COMMAND CAREER NEC FAIR

Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) staff hosted a fair highlighting the various Navy Enlisted Classifications (NECs), or jobs, available within Navy Medicine, Sept. 3. Numerous tables lined the main hall of Building 2 that provided information via decorative displays, and staff from each specialty, from lab work to pharmacy to mental health, were able to speak to attendees and answer questions.
