Walter Reed’s Diabetes Nurse Educator Receives Values in Action Recognition

Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Md. — Traci M. Carter, the pediatric diabetes nurse educator at Walter Reed National Medical Center and the Alexander T. Munson Pharmacy may have relief for Seasonal Allergy Sufferers

FORT LEAVENWORTH, Kansas — For many veteran seasonal allergy sufferers, relief may be found from over-the-counter medications that treat these symptoms or prevent them in the first place. At Munson, Military Health System beneficiaries may pick-up two over the counter medications without a prescription per person per week from the pharmacy with no out-of-pocket expense.

Alcohol Awareness Month 5K: ADAPT raises awareness on alcohol misuse

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas — To acknowledge Alcohol Awareness Month, the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment program organized a 5K at Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center. Over 20 service members and their families participated in the race, which featured an interactive activity where they could wear drunk goggles and ride quadcycles simulating the effects of inebriation while driving to promote awareness and understanding of alcohol misuse.

Mobile Mammography Coming Soon

FORT IRWIN, Calif. — Weed Army Community Hospital is dedicated to promoting breast health and ensuring that all individuals have access to essential screenings. With this commitment in mind, we are thrilled to announce our initiative of hosting mobile mammography events on Fort Irwin. Depending on community participation, these could be held 2 to 3 times per year.

Empowering survivors: Confronting sexual assault, supporting healing, and promoting awareness

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas — As April marks Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, it's important to acknowledge the issue at hand. A study conducted in February 2018 by RALIANCE, a national partnership dedicated to ending sexual violence, found that nationally, 81 percent of women and 43 percent of men reported experiencing some form of sexual harassment and, or, assault in their lifetime. These alarming statistics underscore the urgency for increased awareness and proactive measures to combat sexual violence. Remember, no matter your needs, you are not alone. Let's all speak out when we see something, raise awareness about sexual assault, and support survivors. Staff aboard Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point bid Fair Winds and Following Seas to Navy Lieutenant Kurt Backer at a ceremony Wednesday, April 24, 2024. Backer began his service aboard the clinic in June 2021, ending as the Department Head of the facility’s Readiness Clinic. He led a team ensuring the deployment readiness of military units assigned to Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point and received the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal in recognition of his service.
