The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

Walter Reed Announces Seasonal Vaccination Campaign

Walter Reed National Military Medical Center begins its annual flu and COVID-19 vaccination campaign in October and November for TRICARE-eligible beneficiaries.

Oct. 1:
• Flu shots: Available to TRICARE-eligible beneficiaries ages 6 months through 5 years-old
• Location: Allergy, Immunology and Immunization Clinic in Building 19 (America Zone), Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Oct. 6
• Flu shots: Available to TRICARE-eligible beneficiaries at high risk of developing serious flu-related complications, including:
o Adults 65 and older
o Pregnant women
o Individuals with chronic health conditions such as asthma, heart disease, diabetes or weakened immune systems
o Residents of nursing homes
o Caregivers of beneficiaries in the above categories
• Location: Liberty Zone, Building 39, Level 1, Room 1J18 (across from the main elevators) Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Nov. 3
• Flu shots: Available to all TRICARE-eligible beneficiaries
• COVID-19 shots: Available by prescription only to TRICARE-eligible beneficiaries ages 12 and older
• Location: Liberty Zone, Building 39, Level 1, Room 1J18 (across from the main elevators), Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
