New Army officers welcomed to WBAMC.

WBAMC, Fort Bliss, TX — Nineteen new U.S. Army medical officers who were in the rank of second lieutenant were promoted to captain, took their oath of office, and got their first salutes on June 1, 2026.

Two former combat medics, Sgt. Brent Kendall and Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Soria, graduated from the Army’s Interservice Physician Assistant Program (IPAP) on June 12, 2026, to become highly autonomous medical providers at the tactical edge. The rigorous 30-month program challenged them to transition from executing algorithmic trauma care to applying complex, critical diagnostic thinking. By choosing the Army PA route over traditional medical school, these graduates leveraged their prior military leadership to rapidly return to the operational force and serve as a medical authority for deployed Soldiers.

Achieving new heights: Walter Reed promotes adaptive sports as good medicine

BETHESDA, Md. — In 2014, then U.S. Navy hospital corpsman Jared Lenahan was grievously injured following a climbing accident during his deployment to Sigonella, Italy. After a brief period of care in Europe, he was transferred to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where he was a patient for almost five years.

FORT HOOD, Texas — When CRDAMC launched its facility dog program, leaders hoped Solomon would boost morale during a time of staffing challenges and increased stress. What they quickly found was something deeper — Solomon became a steady source of comfort, calm, and hope across the hospital. His impact has been so meaningful that leaders are now expanding the program to include a second facility dog, extending that same support to more patients, families, and staff.

Simulation center provides corpsmen essential transport care training at Camp Lejeune

CAMP LEJEUNE, North Carolina — Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune’s Healthcare Simulation and Bioskills Center hosted the final stage of En Route Care (ERC) training for corpsmen across Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. The ERC program is designed to train hospital corpsmen on medical care provided during transport; the testing on June 6, 2026, integrated high-tech simulators and hands-on training.

Navy Lt. j.g. Nelyavier Meletiche serves as a physician assistant aboard Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Cherry Point. A graduate of the Medical Service Corps Interservice Procurement Program and Madison, Wisconsin, native, he credits his time as an enlisted hospital corpsman and surgical technologist with being able to better care for his patients.
