Empowering Innovation: A Research Look at SASW 2025’s Impact on Business Development

JBSA-LACKLAND, Texas — Dr. Scott Walter, the Director of Technology Transition/Transfer for the 59th Medical Wings Office of the Chief Scientist, along with Michael "Mic" Borcherding, Director of Innovation for VelocityTx co-chaired a panel session titled “Leveraging SBIR, CDMRP, and MTEC to Accelerate Dual-Use Solutions” at the San Antonio Startup Week (SASW). SASW 2025 was held 20 – 24 October 2025 for entrepreneurs, startups, and small business owners to support business development and featured educational panels, workshops, pitch competitions, and networking opportunities. The free, five-day event celebrated its 10th anniversary and was held downtown San Antonio, with Geekdom as the central location.

Due to the 1st Infantry Division’s block leave period, pharmacy operations at Farrelly Health Clinic will temporarily consolidate staff to the Irwin Army Community Hospital Main Pharmacy. As a result, the Farrelly Health Clinic pharmacy will be closed from Dec. 22, 2025 through Jan. 2, 2026, and will reopen on Jan. 5, 2026.

Travis Airman earns officer commission after eight attempts

TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif — After eight persistent attempts, a former enlisted airman from the 60th Medical Group has earned his commission, proving that perseverance and dedication can overcome any obstacle. 2nd Lt. Chavis Kendrick was recently commissioned through the Officer Training School after being selected for the line officer program.

Operation AGILE Medic, a week-long exercise at Joint Base San Antonio-Camp Bullis, Texas, was a Tri-Service medical training exercise that immersed military medics in the seamless process of transporting patients from the Expeditionary Medical Support unit to the En Route Patient Staging System team, and further to Air Evacuation and Critical Care Air Transport Teams, and vice versa.
