Winn ACH, 3rd ID dust off, validate warfighter mass casualty care

Winn Army Community Hospital and the 3rd Infantry Division joined forces March 7 with a mass casualty exercise to validate medical readiness in providing life-saving care for the battlefield wounded. From the dusty frontlines to the stark trauma room, six 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team Soldiers playing the role of wounded—including the artistry of moulage to simulate gruesome combat zone wounds—provided medical Soldiers and staff training in applying critical care to save warfighters’ lives.

Operation AGILE Medic, communication is key

During the first week of December 2023, the Air Force, Army and Marines collaborated in Operation AGILE Medic at Joint Base San Antonio-Camp Bullis, Texas, providing medics with real-world experience in austere environments transporting patients and implementing hands-on Medic-X training. Throughout the joint exercise, medics were faced with unexpected scenarios, where they had to communicate between the Expeditionary Medical Support unit to the En Route Patient Staging System (ERPSS) team to Air Evacuation and, or, Critical Care Air Transport team, and vice versa.

Mass casualty incident response drill

On August 11, 2022, Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Pearl Harbor took part in a quick- reaction, scenario-driven drill to evaluate their response to a mass casualty incident, should one occur. The drill evaluated NMRTC-PH’s ability to alert staff and respond to the installation’s requests to support the Federal Fire Department.
