Walter Reed Welcomes First Baby of 2025

“Well, this is a helluva way to start the new year!” declared 21-year-old Navy Master-at-Arms Seaman Autumn Henigin, one day after giving birth to the first baby of 2025 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025: National Day of Mourning

The Federal Government will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, as part of the National Day of Mourning for President James E. Carter. To balance the needs of our patients, staff, and the Joint Base Lewis-McChord Installation, all scheduled procedures, surgeries, and outpatient services, including ancillary support (pharmacy, laboratory, radiology), will proceed as planned at Madigan Army Medical Center. Inpatient nursing, Emergency Department, dining facilities, Soldier Centered Medical Homes, Community Based Medical Homes, Soldier Readiness Processing, and the Physical Exam Clinic will remain open and functional. The SRU Childcare Waiting Room will also be open on Jan. 9. 2025.
