More than just fun, recreational therapy proves healing through play

BETHESDA, Md — What may have appeared to be a casual volleyball game between Soldiers in the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation gymnasium on Feb. 20 at Naval Support Activity Bethesda was much more. The Soldiers, members of the Soldier Recovery Brigade at Walter Reed, were participating in one of many recreational therapy (RT) activities designed to support rehabilitation, recovery, and readiness for what comes next.

Now hear this! Munson expands hearing screening capability on Fort Leavenworth

FORT LEAVENWORTH, Kansas — Four Soldiers from Munson Army Health Center recently traveled to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, to complete specialized training and earn certification through the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation, expanding Fort Leavenworth’s capability to conduct hearing screenings that support medical readiness and environmental health.

Paquette will be at the commissary March 3 and 5 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the Post Exchange March 25 and 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. to answer questions and share practical guidance on selecting foods that fuel the body for peak performance.

FORT LEAVENWORTH, Kansas — Munson Army Health Center supported Soldiers from the 329th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, based in Parsons, Kansas, by conducting an annual medical readiness processing event at Fort Leavenworth, Feb. 19, to ensure the unit remains medically ready to answer the nation’s call.
