Change of Command at Irwin Army Community Hospital

Irwin Army Community Hospital held a change of command ceremony June 17, 2024, where Col. Anthony D. Gray relinquished command to Col. Laudino Castillo. Medical Readiness Command, West, Commanding General Brig. Gen. Yolonda “YR” Summons presided over the ceremony before an audience of Soldiers, family members, the Fort Riley community, and local healthcare partners.

Commanders Final Patient and Family Partnership Council Marks Emotional Farewell

Each month, Womack Army Medical Center holds a Patient and Family Partnership Council (PFPC) meeting, but this month’s meeting took an unexpected turn. The regular gathering, aimed at addressing concerns and sharing feedback, transformed into a heartfelt tribute to the Commander’s involvement and leadership. Beneficiaries seized the opportunity to express their gratitude for Col. David Zinnante’ s unwavering support and attendance at every meeting. They praised his commitment to listening to their concerns and his tireless efforts to improve beneficiary healthcare and the efficiency of the hospital's services.

Stories, music highlight Walter Reed’s Juneteenth celebration

Sharing stories and music highlighted Walter Reed’s celebration of Juneteenth on June 18 at the medical center. Members of the Walter Reed community shared those stories, telling personal accounts of their families and themselves. They explained that while there have been advances in equality since June 19, 1865 (when the enslaved Black people in Texas were told they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued), there’s still a long way to go before diversity, equity, and inclusion can be realized throughout the country.

NMCCL Sailors train with MCB Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River in extreme weather exercise

Sailors assigned to Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune (NMCCL) and its branch clinics are prepared for the Atlantic Hurricane Season. NMCCL trained with Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) New River aboard both installations during a multi-day weather exercise from June 10-13, 2024.
