Murtha Cancer Center Hosts 2022 Breast Cancer Summit

The John P. Murtha Cancer Center (MCC) at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) hosted its 2022 Breast Cancer Summit virtually Oct. 26. The summit is held annually during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month began in 1985 as a collaborative effort between several organizations to raise awareness and funding for breast cancer research, as well as increase early detection of the disease by encouraging women to have mammograms.

How would Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), the flagship of military medicine, respond if a multi-vehicle accident resulting in numerous mass casualties occurred on the Capital Beltway near the facility? WRNMMC’s Emergency Management and hospital staff tested the medical center’s readiness posture for such an event, or anything similar, during a mass casualty (MASCAL) exercise, also known as a Code Green exercise, Nov. 3.

Lyster Army Health Clinic kicked off the 2022 Flu Campaign in October to protect individuals from influenza, its complications, and to prevent the potential spreading of the disease. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, reducing the spread of respiratory illnesses like flu, this fall and winter, is more important than ever. It takes the body about two weeks to build antibodies against the influenza virus after vaccination, which is why getting the flu shot early is ideal.

Annual Retiree Health Fair returns to Fort Rucker

Retired Soldiers are valued members of the Army family. Fort Rucker showed its appreciation for their service by giving back to those who paved the way for today’s Soldiers during Retiree Appreciation Day events including the Retiree Health Fair.
