Tripler, Desmond Doss Soldiers compete for title of “Best Leader”

U.S. Army Soldiers from TAMC and the Desmond T. Doss Health Clinic competed for the title of Best Leader during a four-day event, running Jan. 21-24 at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. Events included an expert physical fitness assessment, a stress shoot, warrior task and battle drills, a ruck march, combat water survival training, land navigation, a 3.5 mile obstacle course run, and a mystery event.

TRICARE West Region Contractor Transition: What To Know if You Live in the West Region

On Jan. 1, TRICARE began delivering health care under its new regional contracts. This means that TriWest Healthcare Alliance is now the contractor for the TRICARE West Region, including six states that moved from the East Region. The Defense Health Agency is aware that some West Region beneficiaries have experienced challenges since Jan. 1. Together, the DHA and TriWest are actively implementing strategies to address these concerns.

TRICARE Pharmacy Network Expands With Addition of Kroger Pharmacies

On Feb. 5, the Kroger Family of Pharmacies rejoined the TRICARE Pharmacy Program network. This means that TRICARE beneficiaries now have access to over 2,200 additional network pharmacies across 35 states.

Medical training exercise enhances skills, fosters collaboration

Evans Army Community Hospital hosted a comprehensive cadaver training exercise Jan. 29-30, 2025, to enhance the skills of medical professionals in a realistic and immersive environment. The training brought together more than 230 medical professionals from across the Colorado Military Health System and focused on training in 31 Individual Critical Tasks, or ICTs.

Referral Approval Waiver

The Defense Health Agency has temporarily waived the requirement for pre-authorization of outpatient specialty care referrals for TRICARE Prime enrollees in the West Region. This means specialty care providers can treat patients without waiting for TriWest referral approval.

Wolf Pack Award presented to Lyster AHC

Lyster Army Health Clinic’s collaboration team was presented the Wolf Pack Award for fourth quarter fiscal year 2024, at a ceremony held at Fort Novosel on January 15, 2025. Lt. Gen. Mary K. Izaguirre, the 46th Surgeon General of the U.S. Army and Commanding General, U.S. Army Medical Command, presided over the ceremony.

Plot Leader in Noriega’s Demise Visits Womack’s SRU

Author Kurt Muse, who almost single-handedly forced the eventual downfall of Manuel Noriega more than three decades ago, met with Soldiers from the Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU) Fort Liberty, NC on Friday. He also paid a visit to Womack Army Medical Center to speak about his ordeal to an audience at the Weaver Auditorium.
