On the frontlines against COVID: Physical Therapy Assistant

LANDSTUHL, Germany — Even with a mask on, you can tell Andre Griggs is all smiles when it comes to his job.

Capt. Theresa Galan, the chief of the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center Hearing Conservation Clinic, was part of a joint hearing conservation team that provided training to Soldiers from the 173rd IBCT (Airborne) on hearing loss prevention and hearing protection fitting in Vicenza, Italy from Jan. 25-27. Medics from 173rd IBCT (Airborne) received specific training on hearing safety requirements for the Multi-purpose Anti-armor Anti-personnel Weapon System (MAAWS).

Service member hearing protection emphasized on World Hearing Day

LANDSTUHL, Germany — The World Health Organization has designated March 3 as World Hearing Day. The WHO estimates 466 million people have disabling hearing loss. By 2050, that figure will almost double, affecting one in 10 people.

The two-day virtual event was held Feb. 3-4 and consisted of briefings and presentations by subject matter experts from the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force.

Regional Health Command Europe Soldiers compete for Army Best Medic title

SEMBACH, Germany — Since winning the 2020 Regional Health Command Europe Best Medic competition back in November, Sgt. Michael Metcalf and Spc. Walter Galdamez from U.S. Army Medical Department Activity-Bavaria have been hard at work training for the Army competition.

Army Spc. Hana Lee, a dental specialist assigned to the Baumholder Army Dental Clinic, receives her first dose of the COVID vaccine. Dental care providers and staff were included as part of the initial distribution since performing dental procedures puts them at high risk for exposure to COVID-19

SEMBACH, Germany — Army dental clinic staff across the European theater lined up with their healthcare counterparts to receive the Moderna COVID vaccine, as part of the initial distribution of the vaccine which began Dec. 28.
