Walter Reed doctors credited with saving the life of a gym patron

WRNMMC, Bethesda, Md. — It’s not uncommon to hear about Walter Reed physicians saving lives within the walls of the iconic medical center, but it proved fortunate for one local gym patron suffering from a heart attack that two doctors from “the flagship of military medicine” were also getting in a workout at the same off-base facility on Feb. 25.

Naval Medical Center Portsmouth’s HSBTC Receives Reaccreditation

PORTSMOUTH, Virg. — Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) Healthcare Simulation and Bioskills Training Center (HSBTC), was awarded reaccreditation for five years by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), Jan. 24.

PORTSMOUTH, Virg. — Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) welcomed representatives from J&J Worldwide Services, a facilities services government contractor, for an OR (operating room) construction project groundbreaking ceremony, Jan. 18.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (Jan. 2) It’s a ‘Happy New Year’ for two Sailors who became parents of the first baby born at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP), Jan. 1. IT2 Angelina Nguyen, stationed at Naval Special Warfare Group Four (NSWG4), gave birth to Mahina at 5:08 a.m. on the first day of the new year. Her husband, IT2 Kevin Nguyen, stationed at Beach Master Unit (BMU) 2, was at his wife’s side when she received the First Baby Born 2024 basket provided each year by The Oakleaf Club of Tidewater. Lt. j.g. Mikala Tracy, the patient’s nurse, presented the basket filled with various baby items to the new parents on behalf of the club.

Naval Medical Center Portsmouth Receives First Navy AIUM Accreditation

PORTSMOUTH, Virg. — Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Clinic celebrated accreditation by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) with a ribbon cutting ceremony, Dec. 8.

Cmdr. Kathleen Dagher, Director for Administration aboard Naval Hospital Cherry Point, presents Mr. Steve Roy a U.S. National Ensign flown that morning in front of the facility and earlier in locations across the Central Command area of responsibility during his retirement ceremony Thursday, February 29, 2024. Roy served the MCAS Cherry Point community over four decades aboard Naval Hospital and Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point, ending his career as the Facilities Maintenance Department Supervisor. During his 42 years at Cherry Point, Roy executed over $60 facility projects in two different buildings serving under 19 different commanding officers.

NMCCL officer selected as one of Navy Medicine’s financial management officers of the year

CAMP LEJEUNE, North Carolina — United States Navy Lieutenant Commander Mashiana Sutton has been named Navy Medicine’s Senior Financial Management Officer of the Year for 2023. Sutton currently serves at the director for resource management at Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Camp Lejeune at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune.
