BJACH celebrates the Dog Days of Summer with the Defense Health Agency

The Defense Health Agency hosted a Dog Days of Summer campaign July 24-28, to showcase facility dogs at military medical treatment facilities across the enterprise. Each medical entity with dogs working in their facilities shared stories, photos, and videos of the animals and the important role they play in the health and lives of their patients and staff.

LAHC Medical Company welcomes new commander

Soldiers, family, and friends of the Lyster Army Health Clinic Medical Company gathered at the helipad outside the clinic to bid farewell to Capt. Ronal Monroy, the outgoing commander of the Medical Company and welcomed Capt. Marissa Caid-Loos, the incoming commander, in a change of command ceremony, June 27, 2023. Lt. Col. Garrett Holt, commander, Lyster Army Health Clinic, was the presiding officer and host for the ceremony.

You may already have TRICARE For Life (TFL). Or perhaps you’re eligible to transition to this coverage soon. Either way, you may have questions about your TRICARE prescription drug coverage. For instance, you may wonder if you need to have Medicare Part D, Medicare’s prescription coverage. You don’t need Medicare Part D to have TFL. That’s because TFL has the same prescription drug coverage as other TRICARE health plans. (This doesn’t include the US Family Health Plan.)

Embolism Survivor Speaks of Encounter with Interventional Radiology at WAMC

As JB King sat at home in his recliner, talking to his son, he knew something was wrong. “I’ve never felt like this,” said King. He told his wife who called 911, he was then taken to the Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC) Emergency Department where a CT scan was performed. The results were not comforting, he had a saddle pulmonary embolism. Following the discussion of treatment, King was transported to Interventional Radiology (IR) where a thrombectomy was performed.

Troop Battalion, Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center gets new Senior Enlisted Advisor

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas –Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center welcomed a new Troop Battalion senior enlisted advisor during a ceremony July 19 in the hospital atrium. Command Sgt. Major Antonio Davis assumed command, as outgoing Command Sgt. Maj. Stephine Sweat will move on to become the command sergeant major of the U. S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Disease.
