Mario Wible as its new senior enlisted advisor in a ceremony at Fort Stewart’s Cashe Garden March 19, marking a leadership transition for the medical facility. The event, attended by distinguished guests, soldiers, civilians and family members, marked a significant transition for the hospital and the U.S. Army Medical Department Activity (MEDDAC) at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield.

In an ongoing commitment to enhancing patient care and operational efficiency, the Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center (ATAMMC) is proud to announce a new initiative led by Ms. Kathleen Keister, a dedicated Nurse Educator in the Department of Education, Training, and Research (DETR). Winn implements culture change via virtual visits, shows resiliency during winter storm

Winn Army Community Hospital’s primary care clinic recently went live with scheduled virtual visits, an initial step in moving forward with My Military Health. The program aims to improve patient access and provider workflow. Initial results indicate positive progress, said Amanda M. Lubbe, primary care’s head nurse at Winn. The first official day the clinic offered virtual visits was Feb. 10. "Our first week of scheduled virtual visits saw 64 completed appointments," Lubbe said.

From small-town Florida boy to U.S. Army sergeant major, Sgt. Maj. Bryan Weston Wright’s journey through life shows the capacity the human spirit has for overcoming adversity. Born and raised in Palatka, Florida, Wright began his Army career in 1994. He joined the Army as an artilleryman, worked his way to being the chief clinical sergeant major at Winn Army Community Hospital, and, after several tries, earned the Expert Field Medial Badge.

The Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center (ATAMMC) earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.

Royal Thai Air Force nurses visit 59th Medical Wing

The 59th Medical Wing hosted five Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) nurses for a professional exchange in September and October 2024, offering them immersive experience in U.S. Air Force healthcare practices. The exchange focused on medical readiness, international collaboration, and hands-on training in areas like critical care and neonatal care, giving the Thai nurses practical insights to take back to their healthcare system. U.S. Air Force and RTAF nurses exchanged best practices and developed a mutual appreciation for each other's roles in patient care and military medical missions. This collaboration strengthened U.S.-Thailand ties and underscored the importance of a global healthcare network to enhance military readiness and foster enduring connections.

Winn Army Community Hospital welcomes new commander

Col. Jason Seery passed command of the U.S. Army Department Medical Activity and the directorship of Winn Army Community Hospital to Col. Margaret Berryman June 26 at Fort Stewart’s Cottrell Field. The ceremony of full military pomp and circumstance included sound-off and pass-in-review under the midmorning coastal Georgia sun. Berryman comes to Fort Stewart from the Medical Center of Excellence at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas, where she served as the Army Nurse Corps Specific Branch Proponent Officer. Seery is moving on to a position at the U.S. Army Human Resources Command at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
