Taking a knee for operational readiness… Navy Cmdr. Katherine Mangan, Naval Hospital Bremerton Medical Services director, Navy Medical Corps officer and board-certified orthopedic surgeon, tests a patient’s range of motion, reflex and strength during a recent clinical visit in NHB’s Orthopedic and Podiatry clinic. Mangan and two other active-duty orthopedists, one American Red Cross volunteer orthopedist and one physician assistant performed nearly 3,400 orthopedic appointments – as well as completed approximately 310 surgeries – in 2024 while also maintaining a walk-in fracture clinic. As the Military Health System recognizes March 30, 2025, as MHS National Doctor’s Day, we acknowledge Mangan and other doctors for their commitment as a ready medical force ensuring Navy and Marine Corps assets are a medically ready force (Official Navy photo by Douglas H Stutz, NHB/NMRTC Bremerton public affairs officer).
