CRDAMC welcomes new senior enlisted advisor

The Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center welcomed Command Sgt. Maj. James Brown during an Assumption of Responsibility ceremony held March 20 in the hospital atrium. Brown previously served as the Garrison Command Sergeant Major at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois.

It was during a midweek morning which suddenly exploded into a training drill which had Lt. Lyman Woollens, family medicine physician assigned to Naval Hospital Bremerton’s Urgent Care Clinic, taking part to render immediate care during a full scale exercise to test the military treatment facility response to a mass casualty scenario of a mock explosion resulting in a number of faux wounded. Preparing for the unpredictable, limiting the unforeseen and controlling the unexpected…Dr. Dan Frederick, population health officer assigned to Naval Hospital Bremerton, has been an instrumental force in the nation’s third largest fleet concentration in helping lead prevention and response efforts against a number of public health threats this decade alone, from the annual [cold and] flu season to a nearby measles outbreak to a spate of possible mumps cluster and a meningitis infection threat. Frederick is a retired Navy captain with years of experience in public health, preventive medicine, and environmental health within his area of responsibility of Navy Region Northwest. His specialty focuses on optimizing and supporting Force Health protection and readiness by providing epidemiologic - the branch of medicine that studies epidemics and epidemic diseases - services for Navy and Marine Corps members and dependents by providing a variety of products and services in information management technology; occupational and environmental exposures; reportable medical events; and diseases, conditions and infections. Dorey, NMRTU Bangor is an all-active duty-based acute care medical and dental clinic, offering expert primary care, dental care, and a broad range of outpatient/same day ancillary specialties to an estimated supported population of approximately 13,200. Healing heels… supporting Navy and Marine Corps personnel for operational readiness and standing on their own two feet is the specialty of Naval Hospital Bremerton’s foot doctor, Navy Lt. Edie Renier, staff podiatrist assigned to NHB’s Orthopedic and Podiatry clinic. For 2024, Renier saw near 1,600 appointments as well as performed approximately 75 surgeries at NHB and higher acuity surgical cases at Madigan Army Medical Center. Taking a knee for operational readiness… Navy Cmdr. Katherine Mangan, Naval Hospital Bremerton Medical Services director, Navy Medical Corps officer and board-certified orthopedic surgeon, tests a patient’s range of motion, reflex and strength during a recent clinical visit in NHB’s Orthopedic and Podiatry clinic. Mangan and two other active-duty orthopedists, one American Red Cross volunteer orthopedist and one physician assistant performed nearly 3,400 orthopedic appointments – as well as completed approximately 310 surgeries – in 2024 while also maintaining a walk-in fracture clinic. Community partnership facilitates training opportunity

An Evans Army Community Hospital Soldier is ready for her upcoming deployment, thanks to a recent collaboration with a local Colorado Springs hospital. Staff Sgt. Carlie Pack, a 68P Radiology Specialist assigned to the EACH Radiology Department, was tasked to support an upcoming deployment, but wanted some additional training on a Computed Tomography, or CT, scanner that wasn’t available at Fort Carson.
