Battlefield Circulation: MACH Command Visits Anniston Army Depot

By Steve Stanley

Fort Benning Martin Army Community Hospital commander Col. Melissa Hoffman and Command Sgt. Maj. Hector Santiago-Perez visited the MACH satellite clinic located on Anniston Army Depot (ANAD) November 17.

Clinic Medical Director Lt. Col. Peter Dinh and Occupational Health Nurse Daniel Robertson greeted the command team and provided an in-depth brief on the capabilities of the ANAD clinic and its patient base. To help the BMACH staff to better understand the magnitude of responsibility of the clinic, Dinh and Robertson accompanied the command staff on a tour of ANAD’s facilities.

The group viewed the depot’s repair and overhaul operations for combat vehicles and turbine engines during the visit and received a tour of the small arms repair and overhaul department as well.

Hoffman said the tours helped her gain a better understanding of the BMACH clinical team’s support role to ANAD’s workforce consisting of active duty officers, DoD civilian, tenant, contract and NAF employees. Santiago-Perez discussed matters of supply, maintenance and staffing with Dr. Dinh and the nursing team.

Tucked away in the foothills of the Alabama Appalachian Mountains, ANAD occupies over 25 square miles of warehouses and firing ranges. It is the designated Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for tracked and wheeled ground combat vehicles, towed and self-propelled artillery, assault bridging systems, small caliber weapons and locomotives, rail equipment and non-tactical generators.

Tenant organizations include the Anniston Munitions Center, Civilian Personnel Advisory Center, Dear Clinic, Defense Logistics Agency, DLA Disposition Services, Directorate of Contracting, Industrial Hygiene, Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment and US Army Center of Military History.
