Press Release 07-001

Effective Monday, July 6th, Womack Army Medical Center primary care clinics and staff will return to full operations.  In line with Governor Roy Cooper’s implementation of phase 1 and 2 plans, and after discussion with the Womack Army Medical Center COVID-19 task force, we have determined that Womack can safely return all primary care clinics to both in-person and virtual health appointments.

Womack has implemented best practices and lessons learned during this COVID-19 crisis. As a result, primary care clinics will be permanently realigned to more effectively deliver both virtual and in-person care, to mitigate exposure risk to select vulnerable populations, and to allow us to consolidate resources in order to address critical shortages in access to care.

  • In all cases, please verify the location of your appointments as the clinic location of your PCM may have changed.
  • Linden Oaks Medical Home will reopen for both in-person and virtual health appointments.
  • Byars Health clinic will return to both in-person and virtual health appointments for all patients assigned to Byars.
  • Well Baby appointments (0-2 years old) will be offered at the following clinics depending upon the location of your baby’s primary care manager: Womack Family Medicine Residency Clinic, Linden Oaks Medical Home, Hope Mills Medical Home and the new Joel Health Clinic Pediatric Center of Excellence (see details below).
  • Routine pediatric appointments for children (2-17 years old) will be offered at all primary care clinics.
  • Retirees, retiree family members and TRICARE plus patients will return to the care of their assigned primary care manager.
  • Patients previously assigned to Joel Health Clinic will see their primary care manager at a new on-post clinic location. Verify the location when booking your appointment.

These decisions mean that you may receive a new primary care manager at a different Ft. Bragg clinic. To view the name and contact information for your new primary care manager, you may call Humana Military at 1-800-444-5445 or visit http://milconnect.dmdc.osd.mil and click on “View my health care coverage” box.  We recognize and take ownership for the inconvenience this may cause, but these actions are necessary to better protect you, your family, and protect your health care team.

The COVID-19 global pandemic is a once in a hundred years event.  Until there is a vaccine, our community must be ready to navigate the coronavirus pandemic simultaneously with the seasonal influenza epidemic later this fall. Each virus can cause life-threatening illness and death, especially in older adults, people with chronic diseases, and other vulnerable populations.  The primary means of transmission for both the coronavirus and the influenza virus is through respiratory droplets.  It is clear that wearing a non-medical face mask in public and washing/sanitizing your hands often will slow the spread of both viruses and protect our community.

The Womack staff will also continue to follow universal precautions such as enforcing proper handwashing, using alcohol gel-based sanitizer and approved personal protective equipment, and encouraging proper social distancing.

Staff will continue screening for COVID-19 symptoms at clinic entrances. Virtual health visits will still be encouraged depending on the best option of the patient.

Call 910-907-2778 (APPT) to schedule virtual health appointments, face-to-face appointments, and routine care such as women’s health, well baby, physicals and appointments for chronic health conditions such as diabetes.

Patients can always access an advice nurse 24/7 by calling TRICARE, option 1.
