Open House highlights brain injury awareness

The Fort Carson Intrepid Spirit Center hosted an Open House Friday, March 21, 2025, to increase awareness for the center’s services, and to support Brain Injury Awareness Month. The Fort Carson Intrepid Spirit Center, or ISC, is a state-of-the-art treatment facility dedicated to the assessment and care of concussions and other forms of brain Injuries.

Community partnership facilitates training opportunity

An Evans Army Community Hospital Soldier is ready for her upcoming deployment, thanks to a recent collaboration with a local Colorado Springs hospital. Staff Sgt. Carlie Pack, a 68P Radiology Specialist assigned to the EACH Radiology Department, was tasked to support an upcoming deployment, but wanted some additional training on a Computed Tomography, or CT, scanner that wasn’t available at Fort Carson.

Royal Thai Air Force nurses visit 59th Medical Wing

The 59th Medical Wing hosted five Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) nurses for a professional exchange in September and October 2024, offering them immersive experience in U.S. Air Force healthcare practices. The exchange focused on medical readiness, international collaboration, and hands-on training in areas like critical care and neonatal care, giving the Thai nurses practical insights to take back to their healthcare system. U.S. Air Force and RTAF nurses exchanged best practices and developed a mutual appreciation for each other's roles in patient care and military medical missions. This collaboration strengthened U.S.-Thailand ties and underscored the importance of a global healthcare network to enhance military readiness and foster enduring connections.

RIMPAC Medical Symposium Focuses on Interoperability

On July 1, 2022, a panel of four medical flag officers from the United States and Australia met to discuss joint-medical readiness during the 2022 Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC) Medical Symposium at Sharkey Theater on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. The theme of the medical symposium was "interoperability." The panel members discussed how international partnerships and standardization can improve patient outcomes if and when medical assets are called to respond to a wartime situation or humanitarian crisis.
