FORT STEWART, Ga. — The Secretary of the Army recognized Winn Army Community Hospital staff members Thursday, Aug. 7, during a ceremony at the hospital. The Honorable Dan Driscoll presented coins to several Winn Soldiers and civilians for their role in providing emergency medical care to five injured Soldiers after a shooting incident on the installation Wednesday, Aug. 6.

Challenged, Tested, Triumphant: BJACH Soldiers Earn EFMB

FORT POLK, La. — Two Soldiers from Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital became part of a small community of highly skilled Army medical professionals Aug. 11, earning the Expert Field Medical Badge during the Expert Infantry, Soldier and Field Medical Badge testing event hosted by the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division at the Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk.

Educational Outreach Initiative: Inspiring Elementary Students in Infectious Disease Research and Biosafety Practices

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas — Dr. Jesus Silvas from the 59th Medical Wing and Dr. Israel Guerrero from the Texas Biomedical Research Institute visited Mendez Elementary School to introduce 2nd–5th grade students to careers in infectious disease research and biosafety. Through interactive demonstrations, including letting students try on a Biosafety Level 4 Positive Pressure Suit, they showcased safety protocols, high-containment lab work, and the importance of disease prevention. The event inspired curiosity in science, emphasized the role of public health, and highlighted the value of early STEM engagement in developing future leaders.

MCAS Cherry Point — One team’s attention to detail and meticulous execution of their duties plays a critical role in supporting the healthcare of Marines, Sailors and families of Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point while ensuring service members are ready to train and deploy.

The nominator wrote the following: "On May 7, 2025 I delivered my first baby and had the privilege of Christy being my nurse. From the beginning when she got me from the waiting room, she was excellent. She talked with me through my goals and wishes for my labor and birth upon my arrival to the room which made me feel honored in my care. While I didn’t have many wishes, she asked me if I’d like a midwife only or help from the OB residents. This was courteous of her to ask, as I know she didn’t necessarily have to ask that, and she advocated for me in my desire to have a midwife only birth. Christy was never rushed or pushy, she was gentle and incredibly encouraging and supportive. In fact, she made me feel like a champ, cheering me on every step of the way in my labor and delivery. Her support made me feel empowered, which was the BEST feeling especially since this was my first time giving birth and also first time as a patient in the hospital. Having her as my nurse made me feel safe and at ease. Christy talked up the other employees such as the CRNA (Cathy I think was her name) who did my epidural. Her talking up the other employees also provided confidence that I was in great hands and that assurance was awesome to both myself and my husband. After I had my baby and was Face-Timing my family, she quickly said to them how amazing I did and how proud she was of me! She seriously made me feel like a million bucks. I cannot thank her enough, I am a nurse myself and understand the busyness and stress work can provide, but she made me feel like the only patient on the floor. I am lucky to have had Christy as my nurse and I had such a positive birth experience! Thank you Christy for everything!”

A nurse in the Labor and Delivery Unit, for receiving the DAISY Award! Leclair’s compassionate care during a patient’s labor and delivery was exceptional. She expertly addressed the patient’s physical needs, and provided invaluable emotional support.
