FORT RILEY, Kansas –
On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, Irwin Army Community Hospital will participate in Fort Riley's full-scale emergency response exercise.
The objective of this exercise is to ensure that all hospital personnel remain trained and ready to respond to any real-world emergency or mass casualty situation.
During the training exercise, regular hospital operations will continue without disruption.
• Appointments & Procedures: All scheduled outpatient appointments, surgeries, and clinical procedures will proceed as planned.
• Emergency Services: Emergency and acute care services will remain operational and accessible 24/7.
• Facility Access: Main entrance points, parking lots, and clinics will remain open to the public.
Patients, visitors, and staff on-site during the exercise can expect minor alterations to the typical hospital environment. To avoid confusion, please take note of the following activities:
• Increased Personnel Activity: You may observe medical staff, first responders, and exercise evaluators moving rapidly through public areas or deploying training gear.
• Simulated Casualties: Role-players acting as injured patients may be brought to the emergency department or triage areas to test medical response capabilities.
• Emergency Broadcasts & Sirens: Over-the-head public address announcements, sirens, or simulated emergency alarms may be broadcast within and around the facility.
Full-scale exercises are a critical component of maintaining readiness. Practice scenarios like this ensure that IACH, in coordination with Fort Riley first responders and civilian partners, can execute emergency protocols in real-life situations.
