Fort Cavazos, TX. –
FORT CAVAZOS, Texas — Jeanne Mitchell, a registered nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, has been recognized with the DAISY Award in the inpatient category.
Mitchell has been a nurse for 21 years and has served at CRDAMC since 2009. Her experience spans medical-surgical, step-down, and intensive care nursing. She said one of the most rewarding parts of her job is helping patients understand their condition and how to manage it once they return home.
“I come to work every day with the intention of helping patients and families heal—physically and sometimes spiritually,” Mitchell said. “It’s so humbling that a patient recognized my dedication and compassion. I don’t do it for the awards or recognition—I do it because I truly love nursing.”
Mitchell described receiving the DAISY Award as a truly amazing experience and a reflection of the patient-centered care she strives to provide daily.
The DAISY Award is an international program that honors nurses for their clinical excellence and compassionate care. Mitchell’s concern, expertise, and devotion to her patients make her truly deserving of this award.
