Online Lab Scheduling Now Available

By Jorge Gomez

Irwin Army Community Hospital is pleased to announce the launch of its new online lab appointment scheduling system. Starting August 1, 2024, patients can conveniently book lab appointments through the Digital Appointment Portal.

This pilot program aims to streamline the lab appointment process, reducing wait times for patients with scheduled appointments. While walk-in appointments will continue to be available, those with scheduled appointments will take priority.

How to Schedule Your Lab Appointment

To schedule a lab appointment online:

  1. Access the Digital Appointment Portal and select Kansas as the geographic location and Fort Riley as the installation.
  2. Ensure Lab Orders are in MHS GENESIS: Verify that your healthcare provider has placed the necessary lab orders in MHS GENESIS.
  3. Special Considerations:
    • HCG, STI, or MEDPRO appointments: No provider orders are required, but you must enter the test type in the Primary Care Manager line when booking.
    • Off-post provider scripts: Call the lab to verify orders before booking and note "outside provider orders" in the Primary Care Manager line.
    • Glucose tolerance testing: These appointments cannot be booked online. Please contact the lab directly.

Important Information for Your Appointment

  • Scheduled Appointment Ticket: Upon arrival, obtain a scheduled appointment ticket to confirm your presence.
  • Arrival Timing: Avoid arriving more than 10 minutes early or late to maintain appointment efficiency.
  • Correct Ticket Name: Ensure the ticket is in the name of the patient, especially for children's appointments.
  • Cancellations: Use the Digital Appointment Portal to cancel your appointment if necessary.

Lab Results

Please note that the laboratory staff is not authorized to release lab results to patients. To access your lab results, use the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal.

By utilizing the online appointment system, IACH aims to provide patients with a more convenient and efficient lab experience.
