The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

WAMC celebrates U.S. Army Nurse Corps' 122 years

Womack Army Medical Center held a U.S. Army Nurse Corps celebration recognizing 122 years of compassionate care, dedicated to the health of our nation, Feb. 1. Retired U.S. Army Col. Judy Lee, former Womack Army Medical Center chief nursing officer and U.S. Forces Command surgeon, was the guest speaker for the event. In fitting with the 2023 theme (compassionate care, dedicated to the health of our nation), Lee shared her past experiences throughout her many esteemed assignments all over the world, from October 1986 to October 2018. She continues to serve the military community as a Veterans Affairs Department of Defense liaison.
